$ 46.88

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Condition: This specialized Native American Stone Drill measures about 2.35" long. It has been pressure flaked so the tip is smaller than the main body of the stone drill in a graduated or "dog-legged" shape. This shape allows the drilled hole for the pipe bowl to be smaller at the base of the hole so the pipe would draw better. This type of specialized, stone drill is extremely rare and comes from an old, private collection in Kentucky. Please see photos as they are part of the description. Thanks for looking!

    This specialized Native American Stone Drill measures about 2.35" (60 mm) long.
    It has been pressure flaked at an angle so the tip is smaller than the main body of the stone drill in a graduated or "dog-legged" shape.
    This shape allows the drilled hole for the pipe bowl to be smaller at the base of the hole so the pipe would draw better. This type of specialized, stone drill is extremely rare and comes from an old, private collection of a Mr. Short in Kentucky.
    This stone pipe bowl drill was a pre-1970 surface find on private land, with permission, in Bath Co., Kentucky.  The stone appears to be a pretty green and brown Breathitt material that has a wonderful old, materialized patina.
