Antique Clown Doll MERRYTHOUGHT IRONBRIDGE SHROPS England. Pre-owned fair condition. I purchased this piece from an antique shop. This is an early MerryThought England Doll. The company is primarily known for their signature bears. I have not seen another like this on eBay or any other vintage doll sites. I have seen a couple of the early dolls from the company with similar leather faces. I believe this is early 30’s or earlier. The doll’s body is in good condition however the head/neck portion needs repair from tears as seen in the photos that’s why I have the condition listed as fair. The face is leather and has some cracking also visible on the photos. The backside of the doll has a zipper for what I assume may be stuffing or a pillow. I would love to see this piece go to a collector who can restore it. Dolls of this age are pieces of history that tell a story and need to be preserved for future generations.
